I really like this selfie. It was the first of a couple of pictures I took on a boring evening that showed my nine-pound weight loss after twenty days, and after trying out some of my favorite dresses, I felt so much more beautiful and confident in them I decided to take these “after” photos. Though I’m not flexing or showing an explicit change in figure, it’s obvious that I’m beyond delighted with my results and how much better I feel about myself. To this day, I continue to praise myself for my hard work, even on those days where I don’t work out because it isn’t easy to maintain a new lifestyle when I’m surrounded by family members that don’t work out and watch what’s on their plates the way I do and that I somehow find ways to make sure I don’t break my habits. I don’t have a flat tummy at the moment, and I’m okay with having a little gut as long as I’m living well and I’m keeping a positive attitude throughout. Myself as well as many others, I find, are living proof that anyone can achieve their goals to live a healthier life with dedication, determination, and inspiration.
